Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in < 4years.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

Justin and I ran the Kelly Canyon Half Marathon and Kami and Katelyn ran the Ririe Days 5K...great family running day.  We left home around 5:30am to get up to the start.  The ladies dropped us off and headed to Ririe for their race (where all the races end).

Gray was there so I was running for second place (he ran 1:14 and set a new course record...turn 30 already and slow down!).  We took off fast (Justin was in front of us at the half mile mark!).  Fast down hill start...first three miles in 4:54, 5:10, 5:39.  Then some uphill/downhill before 1 mile of dirt road.  At mile 6 we get back on the flats of the country roads into Ririe.  This is where Gray really took off from me. My hammy/glute started talking to me at mile 4, got better then started to be loud around mile 10 and yell at mile 12.  Finished slow, but overall happy with the result considering my recovery on this off year. 2nd overall in 1:18:25 for my slowest race here, but hope to be faster next week.

Justin and Isaac missed the turn at mile 7 and ran an extra 2 miles out before turning around.  Ended up with about 16 miles for the day...a long training run for next week!

Katelyn ran a new PR and Kami ran strong and improved from the race earlier in the month.  Overall  a fun day.

Spent the afternoon at the Melaleuca picnic and considering my "mid life crisis" potential purchase...still thinking about it but very tempted right now...not practical but a dream!

Nice race Jeff, and sorry if I missed it- but what is the impractical dream??

2010 Camaro SS...not a winter location car but man is it fun to drive! Very Low miles, really good price, immaculate condition. I have yearned for one for years...driving a 19 year old truck now which is still in great shape and low miles. Struggling with the selfishness of such a purchase.

Maybe there are tradeoffs that can be made? I waste a lot of money on Cuban toast and cafe con leche.

Good job on the race. As for the crisis... no comment. leaving that one to you and Kami!

Good race. This is a good result given the setbacks.

I was trying to guess the car (it had to be a car). I think the new Camaro and the Challenger are particularly sharp. I'm not much for American cars (except a handful) and I was at least two generations late for muscle cars but I definitely can still appreciate them (by dad and brother both have cars).

Good racing.

Bummer about Justin. I feel his pain!

Good job on the race.

Go for the Camaro! You deserve it.

You doing Poky half or full this year? I told Mike I'd be coming up for it again this year (full), but I don't plan on going all out.

Just curious what your connection is with Melaleuca? A good friend/former colleague of mine, Jake Mangum, recently hired on with them as their Controller. He's been coaxing me to move up there.

Do the car. Seize the day.

Justin, my wife works for the company. She is in customer care now but used to be the Accounting manager. I will ask to see if she has met Jake. Good company, does a lot for the employees but asks a lot of them too.

I signed up for the full but still have to see about the schedule with the kids XC meet.
