Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

Hang in there Jeff. I'm not looking forward to two more months of the smoke.

From CookieLegs on Sun, Jul 25, 2021 at 09:48:41 from 136.36.69.52

Hey, you guys don't know me, I'm just an old runner who likes to stalk these blogs. Wow, what a bunch of FRB messages in my email when I checked this morning! Hope your blog returns soon, Rob, it's interesting, and I've never found it offensive.

And I agree, the smoky air has really intensified the last few days. Truly sucks!

From Jason D on Sun, Jul 25, 2021 at 21:26:46 from 45.46.30.167

Nice miles, Moxie! Also, I didn't know there was an FRB jail, especially for people who are strict adherents to the rules (as someone who has a bit of a "voice" I have always adhered to the FRB rules).

Breathe easy, my friends.

Did you not know having a voice only means you get to listen to that of "mine", not that you are entitled to yours.

From Rob Murphy on Mon, Jul 26, 2021 at 07:05:00 from 72.184.235.251

I'm definitely taking a little break. My presence here and occasional political thought is just too upsetting for the MAGAhats. So, out of consideration for their feelings, I have left.

I am still posting my workouts here but only I can see them. Maybe I'll put my daily run here in Jeff's comments from now on? Today I ran 8.25 miles around my old hometown of Dunedin Fl before flying home to Salt LAKE:-)

From steve ash on Mon, Jul 26, 2021 at 14:53:14 from 174.52.121.51

Wait a minute.. Did I miss something here? I have not been posting on the FRB for a time. Rob, you can definitely post your opinions and political statements. Whether or not people have to agree is another matter.

From steve ash on Mon, Jul 26, 2021 at 14:56:55 from 174.52.121.51

By the way the MAGA hats comment is insulting. Talk about other peoples ability to have an opinion..

From Jon on Mon, Jul 26, 2021 at 16:26:59 from 165.156.40.13

Wait, what happened to Rob? I completely missed something. I hope you come back- I've also made my blog private at times, but hope you come back at some point. Yours is one of the few blogs I still read and enjoy. I'm sad when I lose the only connection I have to more of my running friends.

From CookieLegs on Mon, Jul 26, 2021 at 18:09:15 from 136.36.69.52

Steve, out of the blue, another blogger commented on one of Rob's posts from several weeks ago. He made some pretty insulting comments about Rob's teaching abilities, and in the next breath spoke about how wonderful Trump was, and that Rob should take his garbage indoctrination and shove it somewhere dark. That's probably where the MAGA hats comment came from...

I've been a Republican for over 45 years, but sometimes vote democrat, depending on who is running, their policies, principals, etc. I try to listen to both sides and reserve my own judgement. So, for every conservative website I visit, I also visit a liberal website. I also visit more neutral news websites like Reuters, etc, and also listen to NPR (especially when there are congressional hearings) and watch PBS.

There is a lot of friction between Republicans and Democrats right now. I think if more people got their news from a variety of sources, it may or may not change their political leaning, but at least they might understand why the other side thinks the way they do. And perhaps our society could become more civil in the process.

The United States used to have a "Fairness Doctrine" that required the holders of broadcast licenses to present controversial issues of public importance and to do so in a manner that was honest, equitable, and balanced. Unfortunately commentators can now project their opinions as if they are true, when they might be false. Combine that with foreign countries that want to cause dissent and discord in our country by pushing controversial conspiracy theories on social media, and we have a pretty big problem to deal with.

Sorry for hijacking your blog, Jeff; I hope it doesn't cause you more stress in these stressful times.

From Sasha Pachev on Mon, Jul 26, 2021 at 19:33:43 from 72.250.218.114

Once in a while somebody might say something :-) We should encourage each other to express our opinions in a civil manner. Once in a while somebody will not. For the record, I did vote for Trump in the last election, though reluctantly, and giving him the benefit of the doubt with a stretch. This was not because he was super great, but rather because the other parties did not offer anything better - in my opinion. But regardless which side of the political isle we find ourselves in, we should learn to disagree with respect. If you think the idea somebody holds on to is wrong, attack the idea, not the person. That is America, and the essence of free speech. Unfortunately we are losing this today in society. My hope is that we can do better on the blog. Rob, think of it this way - you can help us restore peace even if some people here are struggling with the concept.

From Sasha Pachev on Mon, Jul 26, 2021 at 19:51:34 from 72.250.218.114

For the record, I like the MAGA slogan in principle, I also like the Black Lives Matter slogan in principle. For the first one, we make America great (again) when we work hard and smart, and encourage others to work hard and smart. And for the second one, the way I read it is, if there is someone who is struggling - be of whatever color of skin he or she might be - and you realize you have the ability to help, then you do it. Sarah and I recently have found some struggling (black) lives in Kenya, struggling a lot more than anybody in the US, and we have found a simple way to help them directly. We have also found some struggling lives in Pakistan, not black in this case, but they still matter, so we have been helping them as well. If you want to join us, send me a message and I will help you get connected. $20 you happen to save for a noble cause could buy somebody a month of groceries in Kenya, and we can help you find that somebody and talk to him or her.

What I would really like to see is if enough people found it in themselves to stop the political and other type of debate, and focused on real people and real problems, and did everyone just a little bit to lift those around them.

I was just viewing a video about Josiah and the Book of the Law. We have lost our way.

From Jon on Tue, Jul 27, 2021 at 15:20:37 from 165.156.40.13

I did not see any of that comment exchange with Rob. That's unfortunate.

Sasha, I like the app DonorSee. I've been donating a lot on there- help small projects, real individuals, with immediate results that I can actually see.

From Jon on Tue, Jul 27, 2021 at 15:22:44 from 165.156.40.13

I do have one message for Rob that I hope he sees...
