Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in < 4years.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

10 miles in 1:17 in the most humid conditions I have EVER run in!  It was 80 degrees at 4:45am and the humidity was 100%...I couldn't even sweat the moisture in the air was condensing on me so much that I literally had small rivers of water running down my body.  My shorts were so we that it was like I just got out of the pool!  Even the locals here are saying this is the worst humidity they have seen this summer, it is just oppressive.

Another day of meetings then maybe another run tonight.  Got to our hotel and had some time before dinner/drinks so I went back out for another hot/humid run.  6.5M onto the airport trail and back in 47 minutes...my running clothes are so wet and stinky I might just leave them instead of subject my fellow travelers to the smell!  Heading home early tomorrow morning so no early run tomorrow.

Jeff - welcome to my world. Any runs that I do outside from about April to October here in Florida are generally under those conditions or worse. When I go beyond about an hour outside the sweat drains into my shoes and they become waterlogged as if I had just run through deep puddles. Squishing with each step. (Occassionally putting body glide around my ankles allows the sweat to bead up and fall outside the shoes.)

This is why I use the treadmill in the summer - much the same as you may use it in the winter - adverse weather conditions!

I was in DC earlier this year and was surprised how humid it is there too. I lived in Memphis for 2 years but expect it to be humid there.

I have a Google hot trends widget on my home page. It shows that the #9 most googled topic this morning is the Weather in Washington DC.

Yes, I have spent my summer in both the Midwest and FL- now I know why I never pursued running until moving to New England!

Way to get those runs in anyway!

Orlando, FL is hands down the most humid locale I've ever visited in the lower 48. I don't think I'd live there for triple my salary. Surprisingly, East Lansing, MI in August is a very close second. Good job getting some quality miles in despite the conditions.

Jeff - Bret and I were high school teammates a long time ago and we would have cross country practice every night at seven during the Summer. In Florida you get almost daily afternoon and evening thundershowers. I remember out on runs it would start pouring - literally 2 inches could fall in a half hour. The thing is, we weren't any more wet after the rain than we were before.
