Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in < 4years.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

4M on the TM at home as I had to be at work early to head to the desert.  1M warmup then 3M at faster MP (6:10ish).  Try to get another run in at lunch after we get back to town.

There must be something bad in the water in IF right now...I just heard about some good friends who are getting divorced.  This is the 4th person/couple in the past 3 weeks alone (in the past 2 years, we have known about 12 couples/friends that have gotten divorced, many from our church!).  Dang, how can you not find a way to work hard at a marriage in which you have invested your soul, commitment and, hopefully, spiritual focus on God?  My wife is flabergasted as am I.

total time:  25:20  (Saucony T2 - 166 miles)

Good MP 5.25M run at lunch today is sunny, cool and windy conditions.  Got out a bit late, so it was warmer and I kinda overdressed but didn't heat up to bad.

total time:  33:36  (Saucony T3 - 384 miles)

I know how you feel regarding friends getting divorced. It always saddens and discourages my wife and I when we see this happen in our church and elsewhere. Three of my friends that are the same age as me are already divorced.

Last night after her phone call with the wife in this latest divorce, my wife was looking back at the "timeline of our lives" and was yearning for the days when friends were getting married and then having kids. Am I old enough to really be at the stage when I see friends divorcing and dying (I have a coworker who is very sick with cancer)?

You know it's all about relationship with each other. Having good communication, and having the right relationship with the Lord from both that can gets you through hard times. I think couples try to work out differences without praying or letting the Lord involved is why so many divorces happen. I don't know how I could handle my life/marriage without the Lord. I'll you can do for your friends is pray that maybe they can get back together and work out the issues.

Sorry to hear about your friends marriages. All of us who are married know how much sacrifice is involved in marriage but the benefits are so wonderful...yay for marriage.
