Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in < 4years.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

5 very easy miles with Moxie early on a nice morning...50 degrees, light breeze, a little rain.  Legs feel mostly good, not issues just a little tired but I can tell that yesterday's race was not a real tax on them due to my slower pace.  Stomach feels fine this morning so I think it was just the wrong pre-race fueling that did me in.

The only really bad news from yesterday was the entire face of my Garmin Forerunner 205 fell off the band...it just fell apart.  I can place it back in and it will turn on and work, but the face needs to be reattached permanently.  I will call Garmin to see what they can do or just superglue it back together if they are not supporting or want to charge an arm and a leg.

 Retiring the Tangent 3's.

Jeff! I think you are the only person I know who runs a marathon for a training run and continues to run the day after too! I love reading your blog and can't wait for us all to get together this summer for some BBQs!

You should casually mention to Garmin that you are sponsored by Power Bar and Saucony, and other runners have a Garmin thanks to you... that should make a difference :)

wow ~ hopefully Garmin will support you in a fix or replacement! sorry to hear about yesterday, glad today was a good - new - fresh run for you!!

Hey Jeff, I had some problems with my Garmin 205 about a month ago, and while I ended up resolving them over the phone, the Garmin Rep indicated that the Company will "replace" a 205 for around $70 if you send it in to them. My understanding is they don't even try to repair the 205s anymore.

You may already be aware of this, but I thought I would mention it.

By the way, I was impressed with your run last Saturday. Overcoming adversity in a training run/race will certainly pay dividends.

Wesley, I talked to Garmin yesterday and they indicated the same thing. They will replace it with a refurbished unit if I send them my old one. For $117, I can get a brand new one from Walmart and not have to pay for the shipping costs. I am going to try to repair this one first and see how the seal works. Thanks for the heads up though!

I feel the same way...and it's always a hassle to mail in something for repair. 205 and 305 units are available at very reasonable prices on amazon as well.

Still happy with my 205 though.

You're retiring Tangent 3 before Tangent 1. Tangent 1 says they feel neglected and underused.
