Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in < 4years.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

6.5M on the TM this morning as I did not feel like plowing through 40 mph winds outside.  Ran 1M easy, then hit the next 5M at MP between 5:45 and 6:18.  I don't like the TM!  Plus my MP3 was dead so now music and no TV!  Will try to get a lunch run in, hopefully the wind will die down.  (Stratos 2) Time: 40:30

5.5M at lunch on a windy but warmer day.  The temp was over 50 and the wind had died down from this morning but it was still swirling around pretty good.  Easy run with Dan S for 4M, then 1.5M by myself around Freeman Park.  My left leg was was twingy today all around...quad, hammy, calf.    (Stratos 1)

Yeah, very windy this morning.

I still don't know how you run anything faster than 6:00 pace on a TM for more than a mile or two. You are my hero.

By the way, current plan is to arrive at IF the morning of Nov 25 (maybe evening Nov 24), so I will be available for runs the rest of that week.

I am a glutton for punishment. I figure if I have to be on the TM, might as well make it work.

Looking forward to getting some runs in with you. Tuesday and Wednesday I am unavailable at lunch as I have to be at the site, but I am up REALLY early if you want to join me. Otherwise, we will just have to talk to and see what we can do. Definitely see you Thursday morning at 9am for the race!

Yeah, science tells us that running on the mill is easier unless you up the incline, but I think it feels harder even when flat. The heart rate doesn't agree though. Strange.

From jtshad on Thu, Nov 13, 2008 at 10:57:38

Robert, I always make the incline to 1.5-2.5% to simulate flat outside conditions. I just don't like the feeling of getting nowhere, sweating like a pig. Plus this morning my wife had ran the battery dead in the MP3 player, and the TV's are not hooked up yet (remodelling at the gym) so I got to look at a dark window and the TM display for 40 minutes. OK, enough whining.

I thought you were taking things easy... but you are at the top of the mileage board!!! I'm going to call you Kory, Jr. :)
