Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in < 4years.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

Had a hard time getting up this morning (first work week of the new year...ugh!) but finally got out the door for an easy 6M in colder weather on the Sunnyside pathway.  Easy pace on the clear path (except for the curbs at road crossing...hard piled up snow) in 51:12.   (Trigon)

5M at lunch on the greenbelt on warmer and sunny day.  Started out for the first half with Dan S. then picked it up for the second half at a slow MP.  Overall run time of 35:10.   Along the way we were stopped and interviewed by a local news channel about being crazy runners doing this in the cold, snowy and icy conditions!  (Progrid)

Better record the news!

Interesting that they would interview you for that on what you describe as "warmer and sunny day." Where's the news crew when it's 2 degrees at 5:30 am??

Chad- the news folks are smart enough to stay inside on those days!

From Adam RW on Tue, Jan 05, 2010 at 22:49:40 from 24.10.132.131

Jeff, You have to find if there is an on-line feed of the interview.

The news folks interviewed 3 of us, and used the soundbites from Dan S and my buddy Pat B but not mine. They did mention all our names. Link at http://www.kidk.com/news/local/80662467.html.

Thanks for sharing and I agree I'm more concerned about the cars than the ice or cold.

From jtshad on Wed, Jan 06, 2010 at 12:17:21 from 204.134.132.225

Yeah, the cars are a concern if you are running on the road, but they interviewed us at the running pathway, not out on the roadways!
