Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in < 4years.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

5K on the TM at home after getting back from Ogden, visiting my folks to have dinner and pick up the kids and watch the game wrap-up.  Kicking myself for not running this morning...nice warmer morning in Ogden but we got up later (after being up til about 1am for my buddies party) and got talking before breakfast and then we left for home.

After my run, my 8 year old son asked "How old do you have to be to run on the treadmill?" and he wanted to run a mile.  So I set him up on the TM and watched him closely as he finished a full mile!  Now he wants to do it every night!  My runner in the making!

Total time: 19:30  (Saucony T3 - 414 miles)

When I have kids I want them to ask that same question! It looks like the future of running is in good hands.

I will be coaching my older boys (9,11) in U12 soccer this spring. Since the fields are bigger and my 9-yr old is "playing up", they want to train. They also asked about the treadmill and I got them going over the weekend. My 9 year old put in a 2-mile run (11:00 pace) in on Sunday and another 2-miler yesterday. We are logging their runs on a chart. My 11 year old managed 0.8 miles at 12:30 pace.

They (along with my 6 yr old) are playing on running the one mile run in Ogden in May and the 5k run on the 4th of July. They see my run and they seem to like it.

Both my kids ran on the TM again last night with Justin (8) doing 2 miles at an avg. 14 minute pace. My 5 year old daughter did .5M slow, but she did it. Justin is talking of running a race this summer too...maybe we can have our kids hook up in Ogden.

Great job being an inspiration for your kids!

Absolutely. They will do the one miler for sure. By then they may want to try the 5k. They have two cousins in Ogden who will run with them, so I'm guessing it will just be the miles since the cousins won't be training before the run. Its cool to see the kids do this. 2 miles is a long run for these kids. Over 20 mins...
