Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in < 4years.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

Early morning 7M run through Snake River Landing. Started off slow and a bit tired but the pace and feel got better as the run progressed. I would have gone longer but I slept in a bit and needed to get back so Kami could get to the gym. I will get a good run in at lunch on what looks to be a very nice day. (T3)

Boston bib numbers are out (#1082)!

7M run on a nice day at lunch around the greenbelt. I wanted a steady MP run of 6M today to prep for the 10K on Saturday. Overall average for the entire run ended up being 6:16, right on target (including a warmup mile). Splits: 1-6:43, 2-6:03, 3-5:59, 4-6:12, 5-6:23, 6-6:10, 7-6:21. Nice and easy, no stress or fatigue (mile 5 was a breather) so exactly what I wanted today. (T2)

Heard back from Ogden marathon today and no comp (only a COUPLE given...top 10 last 2 years and challenger for Master's title...no soup for you!). So still thinking if I want to pay the late registration fee (wish they would have decided back when the fees were still lower). I did get an entry and accommodations into the Space Coast Marathon in November (sun and warmth in November...sweet!).

Holy miles! I hope to hit 60 this week and you will hit that today. Great job!!

From Robert on Thu, Mar 19, 2009 at 10:06:24 from 206.195.193.254

I so badly wanted to sleep in today, but I wasn't sore and a part of me wanted to run.

From jtshad on Thu, Mar 19, 2009 at 11:11:22 from 204.134.132.225

Hey robert and Michelle...Boston bib numbers are now out and on the webpage!

From Robert on Thu, Mar 19, 2009 at 11:18:26 from 206.195.193.254

#4276 says thanks!

From Bill Mandler on Thu, Mar 19, 2009 at 11:48:06 from 72.24.152.3

Congrats on the Boston number Jeff....you are in the first corral so you can go out and chase down the Kenyons :)

From Michelle N. on Thu, Mar 19, 2009 at 11:51:55 from 75.162.237.156

Well, my # is 14802 and my friend Julie is 14745 so we are right together. Sounds like I am kind of right in the middle of the craziness. 1082, that really is up front. Awesome!

From Harris on Thu, Mar 19, 2009 at 14:42:19 from 205.125.36.103

Congrats on the number. I am number 1249, so I guess I will see you in the 1st corral.

From jtshad on Thu, Mar 19, 2009 at 14:51:55 from 204.134.132.225

Now that the numbers are out, it feels that much more real!

Bob, 4th corral is awesome (I checked on you earlier as was excited to see your number).

Michelle - 14th corral will be great, I now know of at least 5 people in that corral!

Bill - Thanks! I was in the first corral in '06 and it was neat seeing all the elites right in front of us.

Greg - See you in corral 1! Let's try to hook up and work together if we can, at least for a while...company it great!

From Michelle N. on Thu, Mar 19, 2009 at 15:01:20 from 75.162.237.156

Corral, I feel like it is a cattle drive:) Here I thought I had done so great to qualify for Boston but I'm below average there. I guess it's the best of the best huh. And you are up there with the best of the best of the best!!! Awesome.

From wheakory on Thu, Mar 19, 2009 at 15:48:26 from 24.116.153.110

That's too bad for Ogden. It's becoming such a big marathon. I'm not running it this run. No time.

From Jon on Thu, Mar 19, 2009 at 15:55:05 from 138.64.2.76

I take it they would still let you into Ogden if you paid? Stingy on the comp...

Space coast- that is where I travel a lot. You are becoming addicted to Florida marathons. Does that mean no SGM?

From jtshad on Thu, Mar 19, 2009 at 15:59:11 from 204.134.132.225

Jon, yeah Ogden is available (for a limited time) if I wanted to pay the $90. So we'll see...maybe Utah Valley. I could just take it easy for a while or run some more local races in May/June.

Yeah, Kami has fallen in love with Florida and was excited about the chance for this race...plus my buddy lives right there in Melbourne! Thanksgiving in Florida may be nice!

From RivertonPaul on Thu, Mar 19, 2009 at 18:32:55 from 67.42.27.114

Take it to them!

Just don't get run over like Kory did last year at SGM. :)

From Adam RW on Thu, Mar 19, 2009 at 23:20:41 from 98.202.223.65

Since they held you up, offer the reg registration. If not, go for Utah Valley it seemed like people liked it last year.

From sam on Fri, Mar 20, 2009 at 05:59:12 from 78.32.130.9

Hey Jt, great splits on your miles fantastic job.

and wowser what a great number, well done.

keep up the good work and it all pays off, keep telling my self that, not sure how I keep motivated but I do JUST! :)

From Jon on Fri, Mar 20, 2009 at 08:56:01 from 138.64.2.76

I think you should give up road marathons and come join me on some trail races this summer...

From jtshad on Fri, Mar 20, 2009 at 09:46:02 from 204.134.132.225

Jon, which trail marathons are you planning on this year? I am still looking at plans after Boston, my top candidates later this year are Pocatello and Space Coast right now (over options: Ogden/Great Potato, Utah Valley, Missoula, Mesa Falls, Salmon). But a trail race might be fun!

From Jon on Fri, Mar 20, 2009 at 09:56:21 from 138.64.2.76

I'm definitely doing Wahsatch Steeplechase in SLC, and maybe Logan Peak Run if I recover in time. Both in June. Then probably Jupiter Steeplechase in Aug, and Mid Mountain Marathon in Sept.

From Jon on Fri, Mar 20, 2009 at 12:02:06 from 138.64.2.76

And I might do the Kelly Canyon 10 miler in IF if there for the 4th of July.
