Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in < 4years.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

Too cold outside when I got up (15 degrees) so I headed to the gym for a faster run on the TM.  7.5M in 47 minutes for an average 6:16 pace.  Started easy then worked my way up to a max 5:24 pace per quarter.  Overall felt good.  Long days at work ended yesterday, but they were good days!  (Stratos)

5.35M around the greenbelt at lunch on a sunny but kinda chilly day.  Nice and easy (7:00 pace avg), feeling a twing in my achilles again and think it is telling me its time to retire the Progride Ride and Stratos 3 shoes.  (Ride 1)

You must get lots of funny looks from the other people at the gym when you chug along that fast. Assuming, that is, that there ARE other people at the gym that early.

I do get a few looks, especially when I am singing along to the IPOD while going this pace. There are quite a number of consistent people there early...so early that they are waiting in line outside the doors before 4:30am to get in and get "their" machines. This includes the "walker" gal who reserves the TM right under the fan the goes and does something else for 20 minutes, kinda pisses me off.

That's why I have my own treadmill. I did the health club thing a couple years back and just got tired of the "reserving machines" and "that is the treadmill I always use" junk.

I have my treadmill, my own fan, and a tv or ipod ALL TO MYSELF :-)

We have one at home to, but I haven't used it much lately. It is decent but being stuck in the basement, it is loud and is not a nice "commerical" grade one make is more of a backup option.

Im like you Jeff, I have a better tm at home but still rather use the one at the gym why I dont know, the presence of others keeps me going, Yeah I get some funny looks but I aint going as fast as you on the tm but I do sing along now and again especially on tempo runs I dont know why but when Im struggling a little I sing then Im ok must be the disassociation thing he he well done :-)

P.s Im the gal that reserves the one under the fan and stays there for way too long LOL

Wow a gym that opens at 4:30am, that is really useful!

I find the TMs tend to start whining when ever the pace goes much above 6:30 pace, like they are not used to having people go so fast one them LOL

The main advantage of treadmills at the gym is if they break you don't have to get it sorted yourself, I think they can be tricky to fix!
