I ran my second marathon (ever) in 6 weeks on Nov. 6 in Boise, ID at the City of Trees marathon. As I mentioned in my last race report, I learned a few things about strategy, nutrition, etc. and applied them in this race and they worked!
My official (gun) time was 2:54:14 (about a 6:38/mile pace), which was good enough for 6th place overall and 3rd in my age class (us late 30 guys finished 4-5-6).
Overall a much better experience than TOU marathon in September. Felt good at the end (not like I was going to die previously), did fairly even splits from the first half (1:25:40) to the second half (1:28:34). My last 5k was the hardest and slowest otherwise I would likely have finished about two minutes faster. However, no one passed me in this race and ran strong throughout. Even pacing, better hydration and carbohydrate management really pays off!
The City of Trees marathon is a nice small race with good fan and volunteer support.
