No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

6am...4 easy miles with Moxie before the kids got up.  After getting the kids ready and taking them to school, I went back out around 8:30am for a 7 mile run through SRL and back in 51:45.  Just nice and easy to save my legs for the half marathon tomorrow.  Once again, I got yelled at by a driver in SRL that I need to use the sidewalk to run...too hard for him to move over a lane on a 4 lane divided road...Idaho does have the ruddest drivers in America! (Ride 3)

Excited about the kids XC races today...Katelyn 2 mile race in Rigby and Justin at a race in Pocatello.   Had a real God moment today.   During the time Justin was running I was praying for Jesus to give him strength and confidence.  During my prayer, I felt and heard God tell me that it was ok, He was taking care of Justin and Katelyn and don't worry!  Hearing the voice of Jesus is a powerful memory and moment in my life.  Knowing that he is taking care of my kids...endless joy!

It's interesting to see how drivers respond to runners in different parts of the country. Here in Philadelphia they will not wait for me to cross the street even if I have position at a 4-way (okay, fine), but so far if I am on the shoulder I have no issues with honking or yelling. They are used to pedestrians I think. (Just don't be where they are trying to turn).

In Indiana I would have people hold a lane a try to push me into the sidewalk (with no traffic and four total lanes).

At my parents' house in Maine there are no sidewalks (or traffic lights) and cars will go WAY out around me to give me space.

San Diego just passed a law that requires drivers to give cyclists 3 feet of space when passing. Wish it applied to runners! I usually run on sidewalk, but sometimes it's too crowded or slanted with too many driveways.

Oh my, I don't miss getting yelled at in SRL constantly for not running on the sidewalk. I actually had a guy get out of his car to yell at me once. So weird. That just doesn't happen here in Massachusetts.
