Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in < 4years.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

Slept in (8+ hours!) and went out a bit later with Katelyn.  We went to Freeman Park to run the Tiger/Grizz XC course.  1+ mile warmup, then we ran the 3.11 mile course and she did great!  4.5 miles total at the park.

Came home and took Moxie out for 3 miles through the neighborhood.  Beautiful day!  (Fastwitch 6)

Up really late last night catching up with my brother and his wife and kids, so this was a short easy run as I was tired and had a hard time getting up...feeling old. 4 easy miles with Moxie.  (Ride 3 2015)

6 miles at lunch in 41:44 on a warmish day.  Felt controlled and pretty easy pace.  4+6 mile runs for the last day I am 46.  (Mirage Red)

4 miles with Justin from home and around Tauphaus Park.  Threw in a couple of fast miles via fartleks (I got down to 4:40 and he was stil pulling away!).  Nice to get out and run fast with him.  (Fastwitch 6)

I had a really vision problem today...I had a hard time seeing myself go to work, so I took my birthday off.

5am...8.1 miles with Gray on the thirteenpointone course...man that is a huge uphill...but fun downhill too.  Too early for that hard of a workout.  Ran it at right at 1 hour.

Came home and went out for 4 miles with Kami and Moxie.  I was going to run with Justin (he was tired) and Katelyn (we decided to go to a movie instead) in the morning, but will go out later today.  (Launch 2)

4 miles with Justin and Katelyn in the early afternoon after Justin got off work.  A great birthday so far!  (Fastwitch 6)

5am...I met Lynette and the corner and we ran 7 miles in the wind and rain.  Actually wasn't too bad, but it did start to get a little warm by the end.  I was really sore from yesterday's hill workout, but we managed to keep the run under 8:00 pace.  (Ride 3 2015)

5 easy miles at lunch around the river.  Started off with DanS and really enjoyed the company and the weather for this run.  (Mirage Red)

I slept in to start a mini taper for the half marathon this weekend...besides I was tired and my glutes are still a bit sore.

6 miles at lunch in an easy 44 minutes.  Nice day, feeling a bit better.  (Mirage Red)

I ran 4 miles with Kami for her birthday run after work.  Nice to get out with her.  Happy Birthday to my wonderful wife! (Boost)

Justin and I ran the Kelly Canyon Half Marathon and Kami and Katelyn ran the Ririe Days 5K...great family running day.  We left home around 5:30am to get up to the start.  The ladies dropped us off and headed to Ririe for their race (where all the races end).

Gray was there so I was running for second place (he ran 1:14 and set a new course record...turn 30 already and slow down!).  We took off fast (Justin was in front of us at the half mile mark!).  Fast down hill start...first three miles in 4:54, 5:10, 5:39.  Then some uphill/downhill before 1 mile of dirt road.  At mile 6 we get back on the flats of the country roads into Ririe.  This is where Gray really took off from me. My hammy/glute started talking to me at mile 4, got better then started to be loud around mile 10 and yell at mile 12.  Finished slow, but overall happy with the result considering my recovery on this off year. 2nd overall in 1:18:25 for my slowest race here, but hope to be faster next week.

Justin and Isaac missed the turn at mile 7 and ran an extra 2 miles out before turning around.  Ended up with about 16 miles for the day...a long training run for next week!

Katelyn ran a new PR and Kami ran strong and improved from the race earlier in the month.  Overall  a fun day.

Spent the afternoon at the Melaleuca picnic and considering my "mid life crisis" potential purchase...still thinking about it but very tempted right now...not practical but a dream!
