Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in < 4years.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

7:30am...6 miles with Moxie.  (Altra Impulse)

Spent the run trying to process what is going on with our society.  After listening to the memorial yesterday, dealing with work and family pressures, nagging running pains (and thus lack of inspiration in my runs which used to be my release) and now reading/hearing about the 3rd and 4th mass shooting in our country in a week, I struggle at times to see how we as a society honor God or each other.   Maybe my mood recently is just midlife crisis related and realizing that my family is changing and work is less enjoyable/motivational, but looking at the bigger picture society and all the hate (and justification of that hate) is very depressing.  I hardly want to get up and don't find much joy...lately my highlight of the day is the evening beer.

Glad I got the run in early, doing yardwork in the blazing sun and heat is hard work and I would not want to run this afternoon.

5:15am...5 miles with Moxie.  Another week, another day at the grindstone. (Guide Blue)

6 miles on a hot day at lunch.  Ran a bit faster today to race my friend Ron to the Broadway bridge, he started a couple of minutes earlier and I took the longer way around the west side...beat him!  Then when nearly finished I saw the Blue Angels fly over the park, pretty cool!  Not sure why they are hear as I do not know of an airshow nearby. Raining this morning then SWAMPED at work, like unplanned day off unless I go out late tonight when it cools off.
