Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in < 4years.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

6M easy recovery run this morning down Sunnyside.  Legs a bit fatigued and my back was stiff, but otherwise a normal run.

Had a great day yesterday with Justin's birthday!

7M really early today since I have a long day at work.  This is my only likely run for today...just a normal early easy run.  Off to a full day of meetings and activities at the site.

7M easy and early over down Snake River Parkway and back home.  Just an easy run, back a little stiff but started feeling better around 4M into the run.  (Trigon)

8M run at lunch on a beautfiul day, a bit warm (78 degrees) but great nonetheless.  1M easy with Pat B (7:45) then a 5M tempo (6:03, 5:58, 6:00, 6:10, 6:15), an easy cooldown loop around the park (6:40), 5x0.1M barefoot striders in the park (6:04 avg) and 0.5M cooldown back to the building.  Overall average pace of 6:27.    A good run.  (Ride)

8M easy this morning down Sunnyside to Snake River Parkway and back with a loop through the neighborhood.  Just nice and easy, no back pain and I started to really feel good about 6M in.  (Trigon)

5M at lunch out on the desert in great weather...75 degrees, light wind, partly cloudy.  0.5M warmup, 4M at MP, 0.5M cooldown.  Good run, felt comfortably hard!  (Ride)

8M run down my Sunnyside route and back through the neighborhood.  I ran an initial 7M, then went back out for a mile before getting ready for the day.  (Trigon)

Speedwork at lunch with Pat B.  We ran 10 quarters with about 0.25M rest periods in between.  Started with 1.85M of warmup then hit the repeats at a hard but very controlled pace (Pat is tapering for Mesa Falls marathon so we didn't go full out):  79, 78, 78, 76 (uphill), 80 (uphill), 76 (downhill), 76 (uphill), 80, 82, 82.  Finished with 1.4M back to the building.  Overall a good 8.2M workout and glad to have the company (now I don't have to do speedwork tomorrow by myself!).  (Ride)

6M early this morning.  Back a bit stiff but not bad once I got running, still a little fatigued from yesterday's runs. (Trigon)

My normal day off but I came into work so I could take Monday off so we could go to Lagoon and Raging Waters this weekend (Kami works Saturday morning so our getaway would be Sat-Mon) with friends.  However, our friend's daughter had a bike accident yesterday (broke both arms) so now they can't go and we are now thinking about what we want to do the next couple of weekends.

8.8M run at lunch on a good running day...64 degrees, sunny and a breeze from the south.  Progression run from 7:28 to 6:28 pace with 5 0.1M barefoot strider's at the end before cooling down for 0.3M back to the building.  (Ride)

Stayed up late last night with the family at the Casting Crowns concert, what a great uplifting event.  Spent some time afterwards talking about the message we heard with the kids.  Awesome group and message of the love of Jesus.

10M early this morning before Kami headed off to work.  Nice and easy, nothing special just steady miles at a very relaxed pace.   We are heading down to Layton today for a family weekend away at Raging Waters (Sun) and Lagoon (Mon).   Looking forward to the family time to focus on the kids, especially my relationship with my son.
