Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in < 4years.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

5 untimed easy miles with Moxie before church in 10 degree weather.  Just nice and easy before a busy day.

Happy Birthday, Mom!

I headed to the gym at 4:30 for a tempo run this morning.  1 mile warmup, 2 miles at goal MP(6:07, 5:56), then into a tempo ranging from 5:49 - 5:33 pace.  Slowed to fast MP for most of the last mile then 1/4 at 4:30 to end the run.  10 miles in 59:19 (5:56 average pace).  Mr. Cocky and his buddy got on the TM next to me this morning so I had to show him how slow he runs.    (Launch)

5 miles with Dan at lunch on a beautiful day in 38:40.  Just a nice easy run with great conversation, it has been a while since Dan and I have done a whole loop together.  (Tornado)

I ran again in my Tornadoes...man how did I run for so many years in these shoes?  I think I am going to have to already retire them to my knock around shoes as they are way too heavy and have too much heal.  I feel like I am flopping around with clown feet when I run in them.  These were the older non mainline shoes I bought at Big5 when I started running, I am now too used to the good line of Saucony shoes to keep wearing these.  I might break them out again after it snows to see if they perform before in those conditions, but on dry roads, I am done.

10 miles on the TM in 62:40.  Tired this morning after being up late buying Christmas gifts with Gray and Kari for some kid's at her school.  Also, about 11:30 the A-H neighbor teenager and his stupid friends woke us up as they were messing with our Christmas lights...Moxie was barking and woke us up so I went down to scare them off.  I wish they would just move and improve the neighborhoods morale.  I couldn't get to sleep for a while afterwards so the 4:00am alarm came fast.

Taking Justin to the orthopedic doctor today to see what is going to happen with his arm, hopefully just a cast.

Another early morning run at the gym. 4:00am came fast after my late meeting at church, but got out of bed and out the door. 9 miles in 55 minutes...1 mile warmup, 7.5 miles at a MP progression (6:22-5:46), 0.25M at threshold (4:45). Good run...had to run next to Mr. Cocky again but pretty much just ignored him and his antics. Only run for the day due to a busy schedule.

I was really tired this morning, but managed to get up and out to the gym on a morning when the temperature was 3 degrees.

9 miles in 55:50, 1 mile easy, 7.75 mile MP progression (6:22-5:52), 0.25 at 4:30.  Hard run, but got it done.  (Tangent 1)

5 miles in 38 minutes at lunch on sunny but cold day.  Pathway was a bit slick and I was getting cold by the end of the run so I stopped at 5 instead of 6.  Wore a new pair of Saucony Ride 2...much better than the Tornados.  Time to retire the Tornados or give them away.  (2011 Ride 2)

I woke up a bit tired and with a sore back, so I headed to the gym (2 degrees outside) for an expected 6-7 mile run.  1 mile easy, then into a 5 mile MP progression (from 6:22 - 6:00).  Around mile 6, pushed up to 5:40 pace and finished off to mile 8 at 4:24 for 1/4.  Took a breather and continued on to 10 miles in 62 minutes.   A bit surprised that I made it this far this morning, but I got it done.

Too cold for a run outside, so most of the group met at the gym this morning for our run.  Marlin, Curt, McKay, Lynette, Andrea, Mauri and myself were all on TM's in a row.  Most fun I have had on the TM in a while, never once put on the headphones.

16 miles in 1:35:40 for an average pace of 5:58 for the run.  1 mile easy warmup, then MP (6:22-5:49) for most of the miles, but threw in some speed.  Several 0.25M segments at VO2M (4:52 to 4:17), and a couple of 0.5M segments (paces @ 4:41, 4:30).  Also a longer segment at threshold (5:45 pace) for a nice hard run. 10 mile mark in 60:12, 13.1M mark at 1:18:40, 15 mile mark at 1:29:09.

Thanks to good friends for such a fun TM run.

Hit the mile to maintain the 10 mile per day average for the year with this run.

Merry Christmas to all the FRB'ers!
